Walk-In Tub!

I saw a commercial for this baby on some obscure channel the other night and I was in awe. A walk-in bathtub! They seem to be marketing this shower/tub for elderly people but I think they are totally missing their potential market.

Imagine walking in, sitting down, and letting the tub fill all around you. There is a sealed door (kind of scary!) and the showerhead is retractable, so you can wash your hair out with it.

I can imagine myself reading....relaxing in total comfort. Doesn't it seem more comfy than a big tub? Maybe the fact that it has a seat and you aren't floor-level? You can also practice your doggy-paddle and laundry machine or help your kids learn to swim. Just make sure to drain this thing before you open the door. Whhhhooooooooosssh.....the floodgates opening wide. Anyway, I think I want it. Do you?

hmmm... I think I'd want it as long as I didn't have to think about the price tag. I would also have to be sure there was some fail-safe mechanism that kept you from accidentally opening the door when the phone rang and the water was still 18" deep.

I'm more of a shower person, but this might convert me.

I just think you need to not watch infomercials so late at night. maybe next you will want one of those toilets with the high seat and handle. speaking of which, so much for that bidet you got for your birthday.....

I want to hear about the bidet. I think the concept is stellar. Wouldn't we all have better hygiene?
That tub is just what our master bathroom is lacking. A real hot tub spa outside is what I dream about though.

I saw one of these in a store. The seal around the door was impressive, and there was a little drain thing to catch any small leaks that might happen. You could indeed open the door and let tons of water out if you were dashing for the phone, but you can always step over the side of the tub as with an ordinary one. As long as you're installing one of these babies, though, why not put a phone next to the tub?

By the way, I think all bathrooms should have floor drains. Especially if there are kids in the home!

My freinds have this same exact tub I think it's called a MediTub, they purchased it at the Home Depot Expo, I'm still trying to convince my husband for one of these. He's started to give in, hopefully I'll be able to write a review.
