Christmas withdrawal

First things first! Isabelle turned 5 on the 22nd. She got a Leapster. We knew A might be a little jealous but coming from a place close to my heart I just have to allow the middle daughter the coveted video-gamish-eye-glazing-over toy.

Party time! Pajama party. Complete with cake beds. I try to copy the Parents Magazine photo spread but I really come up short. Probably because I am lazy and not too crafty. They definitely look like the kids made them and honestly- the kids couldn't make them this cool. You try melting airheads and stretching them! They don't stretch- they get harder. Parents mag lied. Make for a great teeth-pulling chew.

Sam with his lot from Santa. He didn't score much this year. Any money we saved from the gift budget went to me. Thanks Sammy!

The sweet 3 with their faux-American Girl dolls. Thanks Target. Anika exclaimed loudly that they are 100 dollars each! I didn't have it in my heart to tell the truth; it's Santa's business, not mine.

Presents from the girls: juggling balls, aluminum-foil wand, pretty art. I have to hand it to Olivia- she spent so much time the last several days decorating candy canes and neighbor gifts with abandoned ribbon and wrapping. I love her vision!

I know you're all dying to know what happened with Santa and my late request. I (kind of) feel bad to say it worked! It's not my fault! I'm blaming it on you commenters. Who wants to look stingy in front of you guys? Toast of my Martinelli's to you R! One day your stocking will have something better than Twix minis and Nu Skin products, I promise. Now I have to go feel sad Christmas is over. It came when I was not totally ready! I've got to have a plan for next year to draw the whole season out slower.

Sounds Like a great christmas! I hope Isabelle had a spectacular birthday!
the day after Christmas is always so sad to me. A whole other year until wonderful christmas magic

Who knew wadded up paper could be juggling balls? I wish I'd thought that economically this year...
The cake beds looked very good to me, so maybe it's best you didn't show the magazine picture.
R got his expensive watch/gadget didn't he? Then don't feel so bad about yours!

I think I'll stick with using fruit roll ups instead of trying to "stretch" the airheads... if I ever give in and let the girls do a sleepover that is ;)

Sounds like it was fun!

Brook had so much fun at that party! Sorry she was late.

T- way to think outside the box. Duh- of course fruit roll ups would work! And just so you know- it was no sleepover. With Sam sleeping so poorly there's no way I could penalize myself further!

no post-holiday blues for me this year. that is why i had a babe in january LAST year. . .the worst month of the year will now be filled with anticipation! i will not be making bed cakes, though-- i will stash that idea aside for future use. they were very cute! and thanks for putting sam in my kids' hand-me-downs for the pictures. makes me feel glad in my heart . . .

Now, the saddest task of all--saying goodbye to the Tree and the lights and decorations. Maybe Di can come stay with us during the happy birthday month.

Actually, Feb 2 will come quickly, and Sam can add some light to the dreary months.

Goodbye, Christmas...

YES! So glad everything worked out well for you. That Santa is a very smart guy! He knows when he could be in the dog house (if only there was one). Glad you guys had a great Christmas. Sammy's truck is AWESOME! Who needs more than that? And the girls look extremely pleased with their dolls. No worries there. I didn't see the hubby sportin' anything. Did he have to go without? Dang purse and watch! JK

I didn't have the post Christmas blues so badly this year. I think I will get the post Christmas vacation blues though. Derek's home more during vacation and that's nice. I thought the craft looked great. Way to be creative and fun.

I knew Santa would pull through for you. You have been extremely nice this year! You look so fabulous sporting your new accessories! All you need now is a "night on the town"!
For the record...I think those cakes look great! For you just to be able to attempt something like that is simply amazing! Great work!
