One year old is well, 1!

Sam is an actual number age now! It was funny because this morning Isabelle was excited for Sam to wake up, curious about what he was going to look like now that he is 1. She was a bit disappointed to see that he looked the same as he did yesterday at 364 days old. Everyone's a bit sad that he's not even excited about his BIG DAY. What's the point if he doesn't even know? Well....I'll show you....

We re-gifted the truck Sam got for Christmas. Maybe he'll start playing with it now he's a little more mature.

He also got his first pair of shoes. Yes, he has been a bit neglected on the shoe-front. I just don't believe in shoes unless they're used for walkin'.

Mr. Blue Lips loves sucking on food coloring. Hey- the lid was on! He's got good sucking mechanisms.

Since he loves food coloring so much I made Red Velvet cupcakes. They use a ton of red food coloring. Not as good as blue, but close. He wasn't shy about diggin' in, as he was introduced to cake about six months ago. (how can you in good conscience hold back things that bring such joy?)

Happy Birthday Bo-B!

Soooo BIG!

and the re-gifting is super... we did that a lot when the kids were young enough to have forgotten... come to think of it, Q did it this morning (with a bag of candy cane kisses I'd misplaced from Christmas) and I still thought it was just perfect!!

I can't believe it has been a year. He is looking more grown up. He is such a handsome guy!
I hope you saved some cake for me

Sweet Sammy! He is so bewildered all the time but so good-natured!

Happy Birthday, Sammy!

He is seriously so cute! I love the birthday cake ritual of letting them just smash it to pieces all over themselves. Don't they know how good it is inside their mouth instead of all over the hair?!

Now I'm craving cake...

Happy Birthday Sammy! We thought of him lots but knew a singing phone call wouldn't really be appreciated for another year.
Once he wears those stylin' shoes he'll be walking before you know it. Or just taking them off and sucking on them.

Yeah! Happy Birthday Sam! I hear you on the shoe thing. With my first I bought cute tiny sandals and all but became realistic with my other 2. I mean think about it. Wouldn't you feel more comfortable being carried around and laying on the ground without shoes on? I know I would! One always gets lost anyway because they never stay on!

Red velvet cake sounds good--even if it is smashed to crumbs.
Happy Bday Sam--are you walking in those new shoes yet?

It is hard to believe that a year has passed since I held the little guy at the hospital! I hope he had a great day and enjoys his "new" truck. My favorite photo is the one with the blue lips! What a cutie.

Happy birthday little guy! He is so cute! I think the kids would just be happier if we just left them alone when the turned 1. I can't resist though.

Aunt Sher has been wishing him a happy birthday the whole time -- really. He is so cute -- I always think of trying to get a snuggle from him but I'm afraid he'd be traumatized. I need to visit more often.
