A slight dash of hypochondria and loving healthy days

First things first. Happy Easter everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying some religious happiness and some ham today. And mini-eggs and pb eggs.

You want to know what desperation is? Trying to find Cadbury Mini-Eggs the week of Easter. Holy cow....I looked far and wide for them in 5+ stores. Not for the kids (might as well give them stale chocolate chips- they can't tell the difference!) but for myself, for the long months ahead when Cadbury doesn't produce these delightful mini-drugs. I'm a little selfish this way. Always looking out for numero uno...but what can I say? Good candy makes me a better person. It really does! So I looked on ebay, and there they were...40 oz. and all. I won't tell you if I bought them at double (ok, almost triple) their value but hey- someone's got to woman the house. And if it's going to be me, I've got to have premium gasoline to keep goin'.

Aren't big sisters the best? Bangin' some music

Finally getting to wear his cool moto jacket!

I just can't seem to master my health imagination. I know I've talked about this before, but it is a recurring theme in my life (as are mini-eggs). It's been a week of sick kids. Stomach flu, then some other weird things....then I'll get a line of thinking that goes this way: "hmm...he has spots on his belly that don't look like the other ones (drool rash)...aren't liver spots due to weakened kidneys? What if the reason he's been so moody and clingy is because he hurts, and has organ problems we didn't diagnose??" And then I'll hit the internet, looking up all the things that could possibly fit any given symptom. The same with Anika's cough that followed her flu. She wasn't getting better fast enough so I wondered if she had pneumonia, or meningitis... good thing about all of this is that I am learning a lot more about illnesses and I almost could diagnose a patient. Well, I'd probably over-diagnose the patient, but better to over-do than under-do, right?
humbled by the calming goodness of an oreo

Erin, you crack me up. I have been banned from WebMD. I found myself wanting to join at support group for a skin disorder (address found on WEBMD) much like I wanted to join a Kirk Cameron fan club in the 80s!

You just can't be too cautious.

Oh, the cadbury eggs don't do it for me. It is peanut butter in the shape of an egg. It tastes better. Even if I don't think about the possible salmonella.

as I was last minute shopping for our basket goodies Friday night there was a BIG pile of mini-eggs at our local Albertson's... if only I'd known!!!

I'll pop over tomorrow and see if they're still there (and hopefully on clearance!)

You are too funny! I love the way you write. And the Cadbury mini-eggs! I haven't purchased them for a couple years because it's such a slippery slope for me. A couple eggs here and there and then my place turns into Willy Wonka's. I just have to say no. Plus I'm seriously addicted to the mint Double Stuff Oreos. Can't take time out from that habit to start another one.

maybe it is in the Heelis blood I am always trying to diagnose my children when they are sick. You can never be to careful. Right??
Your girls look cute in their easter dresses.

I looked for those eggs too and could never find them. Hmmm..maybe you will have to share with me! I did win that "gift" thing on your blog!! Hee Hee! Anyway, you would think they would mass produce much more in the stores since they are such a big hit with the Mommy's!

Your girls dresses are cute!

Since you spent so much on those precious eggs do you ration them better? Or do you still just scarf them down?
Glad your wee ones are finally better.

Matt tells me all the time that I am a hypochondriac! So if you ever need company, give me a call! I've decided that the internet can be quite a scare tactic when it comes to diagnosing our problems... I always think that somebody in my family has cancer or a tumor. It's awful!

I spoke with a grocery retailer, and he said nobody really planned for the "extra week of Easter" this year, leading to the mass outages. If you think about it, the last two years, Easter's been in early- to mid-March.

And all I have to say about this sickness thing is--watch what you wish for. (See "We want what you got" for details.)

I'll keep my hands out of the bag of treats. And next year, you better look out--as a cost-saving measure, I'm going to empty Sam's Club's shelves of those babies.

Very cute Easter dresses. Sam is a stud with that jacket and look at that hair! He probably has some growing on his chest too.

I like the mini eggs but I think they would be even better with a thinner candy shell. Just maybe a little more of a delicate coating so we can get right to the chocolate, you know, without so much crunch.
PB eggs will always be my favorite though.
