As I was mixing my cream cheese with my little hand mixer the other week and the motor was whinnying I thought "is there a better way?". Do I need a real MIXER to enjoy all my kitchen duties? After reading reviews at amazon for this baby you'd really think so...so please, anyone that has one of these let me know why it is so great? And quickly. It is on sale for 169 after rebate and at Sam's regular price is 269, down from 299 for usual retail. Mother's Day is coming up after all.....

Do I need this?

I've wanted one too but haven't committed. My baking friend loves hers. Her advice: Get the biggest bowl size you can so you can double recipes without having to make smaller separate batches.
I keep saying that I want one, but the price does make a person wonder how badly they want it... $169 sounds like a bargain... my only problem is now that I've learned how many "fashion colors" they come in I really like the one that goes with my kitchen, and it's not coming at a bargain price... don't ask, it really DOESN'T have to match since it would probably live a lonely existence under the counter most of the year. One year Dearest Q got me a knockoff "convertible" one - don't go that route, just disappointing really - and it's entirely my own fault so I can't blame Q for it!
okay, too long!
Mine is great. It mixes cookies without me having to get sore muscles. It will make bread dough. It makes really fluffy potatoes. It entertains children while it whips things really fast. I don't think you would regret having it.
How big is yours, Sherie? 5 qt? Is that big enough for double batch cookies? (very important!)
What color are you seeking Tonya?
My mama didn't have one so I don't need one either. Besides, how else would I be so buff if I wasn't mixing my own cookies?
Plus, talk about about counter space. Where would you keep that baby?
Mine makes a double batch of most cookie recipes but I don't know how big it is. 5 quart is probably close. Mine was a wedding gift so I didn't have to research at all. Meg -- you stick it on your counter and work around it. It's worth it though I admire you for being willing to stir up a batch of cookies by hand.
